Authorities have identified several victims of Tuesday traffic accidents in Salt Lake and Utah counties.
Gloria R. Fenn, 35, Murray, died at University Hospital Tuesday after a 7 a.m. accident involving three cars on 4100 South near 1900 West.Leslie D. Burbidge Jr., 54, Holladay, died in surgery at University Hospital shortly before noon Tuesday. His car struck a pole on 1300 East at 2800 South at about 8 a.m.
In Utah County, Steven P. Laing, 28, a newly hired state wildlife resources biologist from Florida, spun on a slick section of Highway 6 in Spanish Fork Canyon at about 7 a.m. and was struck broadside by a car driven by John Ghirardelli, 33, of Provo.
Laing died after the fuel tank on the side of Laing's truck ignited in the crash and set the truck on fire, according to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Kenneth Colyar. A passer-by was able to rescue Ghirardelli from his vehicle but was unable to help Laing.
Ghirardelli was taken to Mountain View Hospital in Payson, and then transferred to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, where he was listed in critical condition Wednesday.
