A tentative contract for Granite School District teachers was reached Thursday morning, said McKell Withers, spokesman for the school district's negotiating team.

The tentative agreement maintains the current salary schedule and insurance program and includes an improved benefit for personal leave that gives teachers four discretionary leave days. The teacher would have to pay the substitute on three of those days, Withers said. There are no apparent snags in the contract, he said.

The Granite Education Association's executive board will see the proposal Monday and then will mail the information, but no ballot, to teachers with ratification expected in early September. School board members could approve the contract either during their second September board meeting or the first October board meeting, Withers said.
