"You Can if You Think You Can," Granite District teenagers will be told during the district's annual Self-Esteem Conference. It will be held this year at Cottonwood High School Monday, Jan. 28, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A highlight will be a talk by Brigham Young University football great Ty Detmer. The Heisman Trophy winner will close the conference at the noon general session.Dan Clark, motivational youth speaker, will open the sessions with an address at 9 a.m. A continental breakfast will be available from 8-8:45 a.m.
Workshops will be offered from 10 a.m. through noon, with 11 topics scheduled.
The Monday is a free day for Granite students. Students who need citizenship make-up credits can earn four credits by attending the conference. They will receive a certificate to verify attendance.
The Granite District Self-Esteem Task Force, headed by Scott Whipple, is providing funding. Catherine Pedersen, parent volunteer with the Region V PTA, is conference chairwoman.
