Y. linebacker takes his turn Brigham Young University outside linebacker Scott Giles may be unfazed by opponents on the field, but he looks a bit nervous as Ludean Beebe prepares to draw his blood. Several BYU football players were on hand to do their part for the kickoff of National Volunteer Blood Donor Month last week at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. During the kickoff, Dr. Gregory C. Critchfield read remarks by President Bush urging people to donate blood regularly. Provo Mayor Joe Jenkins said, "In our community, there is a need for over 20,000 units of blood per year. We are counting on you to care. Give blood. There are no substitutes or replacements for blood." Giving blood is safe, said Critchfield. All equipment is used only once. People interested in becoming blood donors can call 379-7021.
