Police rescued four illegal Chinese immigrants who had been held captive and tortured for two weeks because they owed money to a Hong Kong ring that smuggled them into the country.

The four, whose identities were not released, were then arrested and face deportation.The rescue Sunday by 50 police at an apartment in Brooklyn was the latest case involving the smuggling ring, police said. Police rescued three other undocumented Chinese immigrants from kidnapping and torture in the past six weeks.
