Millionaire industrialist Jon Huntsman said Thursday he is not interested in a Cabinet post should George Bush win the presidency in November.

Huntsman, speaking briefly to reporters before boarding his private jet, would not discuss whether Bush or his campaign staff had spoken with him about a Cabinet job.Earlier this week, Huntsman's son, Jon Jr., said Bush's campaign told his father he was being considered as the next secretary of commerce.

Huntsman, who briefly was a Republican candidate for governor earlier this year, said when he dropped out of the race he pledged to help attract business to Utah.

"I don't see how I could violate that pledge," he said.

Huntsman said he was flattered by being mentioned as a possible choice, but added that his immediate priority is to help Bush get elected and Gov. Norm Bangerter get re-elected.

Huntsman boarded his jet with Bangerter and Sen. Jake Garn, R-Utah. The three were flying to California to talk to officials at Signetics Corp., Hewlett-Packard and Apple Computer Corp.

The three high-tech firms are considering investing in Utah.
