Edward Milo Mabey, Insurance Agency Executive, died Sunday, January 6, 1991 in a Salt Lake Hospital.
Born February 26, 1919 in Bountiful, Utah, son of Charles R. Mabey (Governor) and Afton Rampton Mabey. He was a student at the University of Utah from 1936-1938. Served LDS mission in Germany and the Eastern United States. Attended San Francisco Trade School and the University of Tennessee. Married Edrice Louise Haslam July 23, 1940. Children: James Edward, Afton Mabey Wettstein and Charlynn Edrice Clark. Remarried Gun Sundberg August 27, 1979: daughter, Amanda Gun.He began his career as a book salesman, then became mngr. of Edward Brown & Sons Gen. Ins. Co., Oakland, Calif., Founded Western General Agency, Inc. in 1947 in SLC and was president & director until 1981. Founded Western Underwriters, Inc., Chairman of Bd. of Investment Mgmt. Corp., Pres. & Chm of Bd. Western Industrial Shares. 1965-1968 Chmn of Bd. of Bountiful St. Bank, Mgr. & dir. of Internat'l Guaranteed Fun., Ltd. in Germany, Owner-developer Oakridge Improvement Co., Farmington, Ut. Magr. & dir Bahamian Investment Mgmt., Ltd. Director of Natural Resources, Inc., New Hemisphere Life Ins. Co., Victoria Falls Enterprises, Inc., Bayview Park Devel. Co., Woods Cross, Ut. Advisor of Zions First Nat. Bank in Bountiful, and Director of Foursquare Fund in Boston. Exec. Dir. Utah Opera Co. in 1979 and president 1980-81.
Served USNR World War II. Member of Intercollegiate Knights, Beta Theta Pi, Republican. Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Survived by his wife Gun; children; six grandchildren; two brothers, Rendell N. Mabey & Charles P. Mabey. Preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Robert B. Mabey.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 10, 1991 at 12 noon in the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary Chapel, 295 North Main, where friends may call 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
