Paul J. Murphy, 66, died January 6, 1991 at his home.
Born November 2, 1924 in Salt Lake City to John M. and Mary Mahon Murphy. Graduated from Judge Memorial in 1940 and attended the U of U. Served in the US Army, World War II in the European, African, Middle-Eastern Theatre. Managed Pickering Transfer for many years and recently retired from the State of Utah, Department of Transportation.Survived by wife, Mary M. Murphy; children, John M. and wife, Judy Murphy, Anahola, Hawaii; Catherine and husband, Dan Sherwood, Ann and husband, Jerry Straley, Mark J. Murphy, Patricia M. Murphy, Stephen P. Murphy, all Salt Lake City; three grandchildren; brother, Robert E. and wife, Barbara Murphy; sister, Maryellen Murphy, both San Jose, California; four nieces, three nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, 10 a.m., at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 East South Temple. Vigil service will be held Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. at the Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, where friends may call Wednesday 6 p.m. until time of service. Committal: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street.
