Loving husband, father and grandfather, George A. Wensel, age 81, passed away January 7, 1991, at his home in Bountiful.
Born December 9, 1909, in Salt Lake City to Walter G. and Annie Gustaveson Wensel. Because his mother died due to childbirth, George was raised by his grandparents, Charles John and Hannah Gustaveson. He married his sweetheart, Louise Burton, July 21, 1934, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Having grown up in the Forest Dale area, George attended LDS High School. Employed 15 years with Zellerbach Paper Co.; worked for the U.S. Army Transportation during World War II; a superintendent with Sterling Transportation; general claims agent with Inland Freight Lines; regional claims agent with Ringsby Truck Lines; retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1979.He was active in the LDS Church, having held many secretarial and clerical positions in various wards in Salt Lake City, Idaho Falls and Bountiful, Utah. Until recently, he was an active High Priest in the Bountiful 40th Ward, serving faithfully as a home teaching district leader.
He is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Louise, Bountiful; son, G. Kent, and his wife, Karen, Riverside, Calif.; son, Jeffery, and his wife, Barbara, Bountiful; grandchildren, Carole Powers and David Wensel, Bountiful; Debi Wensel and Alan Wensel, Salt Lake City; LaRue Johnson, Pocatello, Idaho; Paul, Amy and Robert Wensel, Riverside, California; Mark Wensel, serving the Alaska-Anchorage Mission; Gary Wensel, serving in the Ireland-Dublin Mission; two grandsons, Bobby and Michael Powers, Bountiful. George's family was the joy of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 10, 1991, at 11 a.m., at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 North 400 East. Friends may call Wednesay, from 6-8 p.m., and Thursday morning, one hour prior to services. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
