A Hill Air Force Base sergeant has pleaded not guilty in 2nd District Court to multiple charges of rape and sexual abuse, including two first-degree felony counts that carry prison terms of five years to life.

Larry J. Frans, 44, pleaded not guilty to the five counts and is scheduled for trial Feb. 8, with a Jan. 29 pre-trial hearing.He is charged with rape and forcible sodomy, both first-degree felonies; sexual exploitation of a minor and forcible sexual abuse, both second-degree felonies with a one-to-15-year prison term; and dealing in material harmful to a minor, a third-degree felony with a zero-to-five-year prison term.

The incidents involve a female minor and occurred between June of 1987 and August of 1989 on the base, according to an affidavit filed by an agent from the Air Force's Office of Special Investigations, which conducted the investigation.
