Robert Shaffer, age 82, passed away Wednesday, Janaury 2, 1991 from acute leukemia.
Born November 3, 1908 in Eaton, Ohio, a son of Edward M. and Minnie Clara Minix Shaffer. Married Helen Evaline Phillips December 6, 1935 in Great Falls, Montana; later solemnized in the Cardston, Alberta, Canada LDS Temple. Lived in Eaton, Ohio; Great Falls, Montana; Salt Lake City, and North Salt Lake, Utah. Member of the Orchard 3rd LDS Ward, North Salt Lake. Was a High Priest and an active temple worker. He was a member of the Great Falls Masonic Lodge #118. He was affectionately known as "The Candy Man."Survived by wife, North Salt Lake; seven sons and eight daughters, Paul A., Centerville; David R., Columbia Falls, Montana; James M., Columbia Falls, Montana; Robert A., Jr., West Valley City; Adelbert J., Magna; Daniel E., Magna; Benjamin J., Lomita, Calif.; Helen Lofgren, Aurora, Colo.; Roberta L. McDonald, Bellevue, Wash.; Pearl I. Robison, Bellevue, Wash.; Elizabeth J. Longaker, Salt Lake City; Mary C. Carlsson, Great Falls, Mont.; Carolynn W. Deller, Saugus, Calif.; Naomi R. Adamson, Salt Lake City; Rebekah P. Odle, Omaha, Nebraska; 87 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren; brother, Jesse M. Shaffer, Great Falls, Montana; sister, Ruth Fabre, Great Falls, Montana. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Kandie Shaffer.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 7, at 12 noon, at the Orchard 3rd Ward Chapel, 261 East Center, North Salt Lake. Friends may call Sunday, 6-8 at Lindquist's Bountiful Chapel, 727 North 400 East, Bountiful, and 10:30-11:30 a.m., Monday, at the church. Interment will be in the Farmington City Cemetery.
