The strictest statewide recycling law in the nation took effect New Year's Day, but Wisconsin residents needn't worry, there will be no trash police to haul violators away.

It's a law authorities hope nobody would want to break."In Wisconsin, we're going to have voluntary recycling," said Rep. Spencer Black, D-Madison, co-author of the law. "If we had to enforce the recycling law the way we enforce the speed limit, we won't have recycling."
