Mrs. Fields Inc. has received the Personnel Journal's first Optimas Award in the innovation category for excellence in human resources management, which, for the first time, is being formally recognized as the most important factor in corporate survival.

With the help of a retail operations intelligence computer software system, Debbi Fields manages all 650 stores the way she managed her first store and at the same time keeps the company's management structure flat, magazine officials noted.Fields Software Group Inc. has been formed to market the company-designed system, which has been purcahsed by Burger King.

Mrs. Fields Inc. joins nine other companies across the country recognized for vision, financial impact, managing change, competitive advantage, quality of life, partnership, global outlook, service and general excellence.
