Evidence of America's increasing dependence on imported oil comes from an energy management-oriented publication that tracks the worldwide oil market.

According to a recent report from Energy User News magazine, the United States increased its oil imports from Iraq from 46,000 barrels a day in 1985 to 610,000 barrels per day in 1990.A similar increase in imported oil from Kuwait is also reported from 21,000 barrels a day in 1985 to 121,000 barrels daily in 1990.
