Floats, beauty queens, marshals on horses and free candy for children kicked off the Salt Lake County Fair Monday. The fair's six-day run was launched with a parade down State Street Monday evening. The rest of the fair is held on the Salt Lake County Fair Grounds, 5177 S. State. The week's activities include livestock shows, agricultural exhibits, entertainment and nightly fireworks displays. Tuesday night activities are to include the Miss Salt Lake County Fair pageant at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday's schedule includes beef judging, 9 a.m.; sheep judging, 4 p.m.; lamb judging, 5 p.m.; a horse pulling contest and an old time fiddler's show, both at 7 p.m; a barber shop quartet contest, 8:30 p.m.; and fireworks at 10:30 p.m.
