Marlon Brando will take the stand in his son's murder trial, but prosecutors are abandoning hope that his daughter, Cheyenne, will return from Tahiti to testify about the slaying of her lover.

The latest developments came Tuesday as Superior Court Judge Robert Thomas ordered 255 prospective jurors to court on Nov. 5 in the trial of Christian Brando.Cheyenne Brando was at her father's mansion May 16 when her Tahitian lover, Dag Crollet, was shot to death. Christian Brando admitted to police that he fired the gun but insisted he didn't mean to kill Drollet.

The 32-year-old Brando is charged with first-degree murder.
