Douglas Wilding Love, former president of the Utah-Idaho Sugar Co., died Dec. 29, 1990, in Salt Lake City.
Mr. Love joined U&I in 1921 as an accountant clerk. He later transferred to sales, where he became a vice president in 1948 and then general sales manager. In 1962 he was promoted to general manager and executive vice president, and the next year was named president of the company. He helped organize the Western Beet Sugar Producers Inc.Mr. Love retired as president in 1973 but continued as a director. He was also a director for First Security Corp., chairman of the Utah State Board on Alcoholism for 20 years and a Rotary Club member for 10 years.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 2, at 2 p.m. in the MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive. Burial will follow in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
