Our beloved father, grandfather great-grandfather, friend and neighbor, Otto Francis Burton (Bompy), age 97, died December 29, 1990 in Salt Lake City.
Born January 2, 1893 in Mt Vernon, Illinois to James William and Anna Johnson Burton. Married Mary Evelyn Thorpe January 18, 1915. She passed away February 28, 1970.Employed as a telegrapher and station agent by the NYC, MP, UP andD & RG Railroads. Employed as an accountant by Utah Fuel Co., Nevada Con. Copper Co., and Peerless Coal Co. He was also employed as an auditor for Thompson & Murdock Investment Companies and the Combined Metals Reduction Co. as comptroller and treasurer until his retirement in 1963. Member of the Masonic Argenta Lodge #3, Scottish Rite anda 32nd-degree Mason and a Shriner.Survivors: Daughter: Mrs M.D. (Bernice) Jensen, Salt Lake City. 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son: Joe T. Burton and one granddaughter; Gayle Jensen Reaveley. He will be missed by all. He gave to everyone who knew him - hours, love and his time. His quick wit was always enjoyed. "Dad - Bompy, we love you."
Graveside services Thursday, January 3rd, 1991 at 12 noon in the Evergreen Cemetery, Springville, Utah. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple on Wednesday evening 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to: Shriners Hospital, 1275 Fairfax Avenue SLC, UT 84103.
