Douglas Wilding Love passed away December 29, 1990 in Salt Lake City.
He was born February 28, 1900 in Salt Lake City to Stephen Hunter and Eleanor Wilding Love. Mr. Love had a long and successful career working for the U & I Sugar Company, beginning in 1921 as an accountant clerk. After transferring to the sales department, he climbed the corporate ladder rapidly, eventually serving as Vice President in charge of sales. He was promoted to Executive vice President in 1962, and became president a year later. He retired in 1973, but continued to serve on the Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Executive Committee. Mr. Love's civic activities included 20 years as Chairman of the Utah State Board on Alcoholism, ten years on the First Security Bank Board of Directors, and over 50 years with the Rotary Club. His wife, Afton Davis, died in 1988 after spending 67 years at his side. They moved in 1973 to a home in the mountains outside of Vernal, Utah, at flaming Gorge, where they spent 15 memorable years.Mr. Love is survived by a son, Stephen Hunter Love; a daughter, Eleanor Love Wood; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildrne; 25 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Janaury 2, 1991 at 2 p.m., at MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive. Burial will follow at Salt Lake City Cemetery.
