An increase in transactions that shows the housing market has bottomed out and is now in a gradual upswing is cause for optimism, according to Al Mansell, president of Mansell & Associates of Midvale.

Mansell recently announced a 26.7 percent increase in closed volume in the second quarter of 1988, compared to the same quarter a year ago. His company also had a 41.3 percent increase in the number of transactions closed during the same period.Agents in the company's seven offices also put $60 million under contract during the second quarter.

Dave Mansell, vice president, said the company's relocation division had a 43.3 percent increase in the number of transactions closed and a 15.5 percent increase in closed volume.

The company has honored several employees including David Hooper, Union Park office; Vicki Hansen, Benchmark office; Rand Robbins, Orem office and Mary Hurlburt, Ogden office.

The top closing agent was Hooper, who closed $1.4 million in the second quarter while DeAnn Densley, Union Park office, has been cited for putting 16 transactions worth more than $2 million under contract during the second quarter.
