A public hearing to gather information from consumers, agencies and service providers about discrimination and other issues facing individuals with disabilities will be 1:30-3:30 p.m. Aug. 25 in Suite B of the Salt Palace.

Justin Dart, business leader and former Reagan administration official, will conduct the meeting. He has been appointed by the House Subcommittee on Select Education to chair the Task Force on the Rights and Empowerment of Americans with Disabilities to travel about the country and conduct hearings to compile information for Congress. He is traveling at his own expense and said he wants to be a "listener and doer to help those who cannot always help themselves."According to Dr. Judy Ann Buffmire, executive director of the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation, people can give oral testimony on Senate Bill 2345, which "establishes a clear and comprehensive prohibition on the basis of handicap."
