Salt Lake County sheriff's detectives were trying Tuesday afternoon to identify a man whose body was found on a Great Salt Lake beach.

Construction workers found the nude body of an adult male, possibly Hispanic, about 8 a.m. Tuesday along the beach in Great Salt Lake State Park. There were no obvious signs of violence, said detective Capt. Bob Jack.

"We don't think it was a homicide. But we won't know for sure until after the medical examiner does an autopsy."

The victim had not been dead long, and there was some indication he may have drowned, Jack said. Some miscellaneous articles of clothing were found on the beach, but none can be definitely connected to the victim, he said. No vehicles were found in the area.
