A Salt Lake man was fatally stabbed Thursday after an argument that apparently began over use of a telephone.

Salt Lake police said a fight broke out between a Murray man, the man's 16-year-old son and Jessie Anthony Roybal, 31. "It was basically over the use of the victim's phone," said Lt. Marty Vuyk.The altercation apparently began in Roybal's apartment at 474 N. 1300 West No. 4, and then moved outside just before 11 p.m. The fight escalated and Roybal was stabbed once in the chest.

The victim walked back inside his apartment but was unconscious when police and paramedics arrived and took him to LDS Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital about 11:20 p.m.

A 36-year-old Murray man was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of criminal homicide. The man's 16-year-old son was taken to the police station for questioning and later released.
