Kevin McReynolds signed a 3-year contract extension with the New York Mets that will pay the outfielder $8.75 million through 1994, the club announced Thursday.
McReynolds, who batted .269 with 24 home runs and 84 RBI in 147 games last season, had one year remaining on his contract.He will earn $2.1 million in 1991. Under his extension, the Mets will pay him $3 million in 1992, $3.25 million in '93 and $2.5 million '94. The contract includes an option for 1995 worth $3.6 million.
McReynolds, 31, is a career .270 hitter in seven seasons with 167 homers and 621 RBI. He has hit at least 20 homers in each of his last four years, all with the Mets.
