Rita Haycock Kirby, age 81, died December 25, 1990 in Kanab, Utah.
Born in Kanab, June 30, 1909, to Samuel Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Swapp Haycock. Married Ernest G. Kirby, December 10, 1927, in Kanab, Utah; marriage solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple, June 19, 1929. Rita lived all of her life in Kane County. Served in the Primary and Relief Society. She was famous for her baking skills and homemade candy.Survived by her husband, Kanab; children, George E. Kirby, Diana Franklin, both of Kanab; Sandra Currey, Scottsdale, Arizona; brother, Berdell S. Haycock, Fresno, California; three sisters, Elva Judd, Springville; Clara Strange, Chico, California; Alta Porter, Cedar City; 15 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by a daughter, Mary May Robertson, grandson, Robert Erickson Jr., two brothers and two sisters, Melvin Haycock, Carl Haycock, Maude Eddington, and Irene Carpenter.
Funeral Services Saturday, December 29, 11 a.m., Kanab Utah Stake Center. Friends may call Friday 7-8 p.m. at Mosdell Mortuary in Kanab, and Saturday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the chapel. Burial: Kanab City Cemetery.
