Betty Lee Walker VanOtten Whitney, age 61, passed away December 23, 1990 at a Salt Lake hospital of a sudden illness
Born July 12, 1929 in Union, Utah to Leland Rex and Edna Irma Anderson Walker. Married Robert Warnell VanOtten July 1947; later divorced. Married Lloyd Clint Whitney November 1983.She was a graduate of the University of Utah, member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honorary Society. She was a dietary director of Primary Childrens Hospital. Member of the LDS Church. Her family was first and foremost in her life. She was an avid bridge player, loved music, dancing, cooking, the outdoors, and simplicity. She was a good friend and support to her husband, family and friends. She was especially fond of the Christmas season, and will be deeply missed.
Survivors are husband, West Valley City; sons and daughters, Ron and Brenda VanOtten, Craig and Kris VanOtten, Tom and Lorraine VanOtten, Marcee and Tony Snow, Terry R. and Joan VanOtten, Scott and Theresa VanOtten, Kelly and Michelle VanOtten, Cathy and Scott Luker, Annette VanOtten, all of Salt Lake City; stepchildren, Gary and Susan Whitney, Salt Lake City; Dale and Carla Whitney, Illinois; Ray and Toni Whitney, West Valley City; 39 grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Cynthia Lee VanOtten.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 12 noon in the Crescent Stake Center, 1245 East 11000 South. Friends may call Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday at the church 10:30-11:45 a.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens. In lieu of flowers, families suggest contributions to Primary Childrens Hospital.
