Robert C. "Rob" Lunnen, formerly an assistant United States attorney assigned to the Lafayette, La., office and the Tooele City attorney since last January, was recently hired as an assistant Utah attorney general.
A former resident of Sandy and a graduate of Hillcrest High School, Brigham Young University and of Loyola University Law School, Lunnen will work in the state attorney general's criminal enforcement division.His assignment is general criminal prosecution cases, particularly those where counties don't have an attorney or where there may be a conflict of interest on the county level, said Farah Mahi, the attorney general's office public information director.
Lunnen, 34, was an assistant to the magistrate in Lafayette, La., for one year before beginning work in the U.S. attorney's office in Louisiana. He was general counsel to Gulf Air, a commercial charter airline that had headquarters in New Iberia, La. Earlier, he served an LDS mission to Central America from 1975 to 1977.
He is the son of Robert M. Lunnen, the late Donna L. Lunnen and Nancy Lunnen, and he is married to the former Valerie Aldous of New Orleans. The couple lives in Midvale; they have four sons and a daughter.
