Gerald Barton Nelson, Age 74, died Sunday, December 23, 1990, at local Care Center after a year's battle with Brain Cancer.
He was born January 8, 1916, Ferron, Utah, the son of Sophus and Mary Elizabeth Barton Nelson. He Graduated from the Wasatch Academy. Continued his education at Utah State University. Taught school at Randolph and Helper, Utah. Married Grace Bishop January 2, 1941 in the Logan LDS Temple. He was a Lt. Commander in the Navy during WW II. After the ward he was in the Civil Service where he was assigned to the Office of Naval Research. Resided in San Diego where he served as Head of the Pacific Coast Region for Special Devices, for the U.S. Navy. After Retirement he involved himself in the development of recycling equipment and the Stock Market. He was active in the LDS church where he served as Home Teacher, Ward Financial Clerk, High Councilman, and Sec. to the High Priest Group.He is survived by his wife Grace of Bountiful. Son and daughter-in-law Garth and Carylyn , grandsons Gary, Mark and David Nelson, all of Bountiful; three sister, Nina Killpack, Ferron, Utah; Delta Brinholt, Ephraim, Utah; Virginia Funk, Salt Lake City, Utah. He is preceded in death by a son Gordon E. Nelson, parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Services will be held Friday December 28, 1990 at 11:00 am at the Bountiful 52nd ward Chapel 1800 Mueller Park Road (1800
South). Friends may call thursday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary 295 North Main and on friday from 94:45 to 10:45 am at the church prior to services. Interment in the Bountiful City Cemetery
