A bus from the Utah Transit Authority ran into a power pole in Provo Monday about 10 a.m. causing a brief outage in a small area, but there were no injuries.

According to Provo police officer Mark Troxel, the bus, traveling south, swerved to avoid a car at 200 South and University Avenue. The car had been straddling the white line and then had tried to move into the right lane, where the bus was traveling, to make a right-hand turn.

"The bus driver hit some ice and slid right into a pole," Troxel said. "It destroyed the front end of the bus."

No one was injured or treated at the scene, Troxel said. There was damage estimated at $3,000 to $4,000 to the bus.
