Salt Lake police are investigating the death of a transient who apparently froze to death in his sleeping bag.

Blaine M. Criddle, 33, originally from Brigham City, was discovered by his father about 2:45 p.m. Sunday in a field at 970 S. 400 West."His father hadn't heard from him for awhile and went looking for him," said Sgt. Ron Millard. "He checked several places his son had camped before and finally found him."

Millard said Criddle was wrapped in a sleeping bag. Snow around the body was undisturbed, and Millard said there is no evidence of foul play.

Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy by the state medical examiner's office.
