"Taxi Blues," Pavel Lounguine's award-winning movie, has been designated as the official Soviet entry in the Academy Awards' best foreign film competition.

"Taxi Blues" won the best director prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival, where it made its world premiere. The film also won acclaim at the New York Film Festival.Set entirely in contemporary Moscow, "Taxi Blues" depicts the symbiotic relationship formed by a hardworking taxi driver and a free-wheeling jazz musician, whom the driver picks up as a passenger.
