A Lehi man died Thursday afternoon at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City after falling into Utah Lake on Wednesday.
Norman Jones, 52, died at 3:15 p.m. of "severe hypothermia," according to a Utah County sheriff's spokesman.Jones and three male companions were hunting geese about 350 yards from the shore of Utah Lake Wednesday afternoon when a wind came up, causing the ice to break, and all four fell into the water, the spokesman said.
Two of the men pulled Jones out of the water, and the other man was able to reach the shore alone. The other three were not hurt. Jones was transported to Lehi by private vehicle and then was taken to American Fork Hospital by ambulance and from there was flown by helicopter to LDS Hospital.
