The commissioner of the Big Ten says he has come up with a plan under which each of the league's top five teams would be committed to bowl games, ending the wheeling and dealing of the present selection system.

Under the plan being considered by Jim Delany, the Big Ten could make an arrangement sending its second-place team to the Sugar Bowl, the third-place squad to the Citrus Bowl, the fourth-place club to the Hall of Fame Bowl and so on. The Big Ten champion would continue to receive an automatic berth in the Rose Bowl.
