Retired Col. USAF, Richard Allen Baldwin, age 68, died December 19, 1990 in SLC, Utah.

Born February 21, 1922 in SLC, Utah to Ernest Frank and Eva Christison Baldwin. He married Virginia Howard on September 6, 1946 in Houston, Texas. Later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on September 6, 1956.He served two tours of duty in Korea flying over 200 combat missions and was chosen most outstanding USAF pilot. He addressed the United Nations Assembly in Paris, 1952. Served one tour of duty in Viet Nam. Served on the Joint Chiefs of Staff 1966-69. Received numerous honors and decorations throughout his military career.

Professor of Areo Space Studies at BYU 1971-1974. East High graduate, where he was Student Body President. Attended U of U. Member of Sigma Chi. Received a B.A. degree from Syracuse University in Political Science and a Masters degree in Education from University of Southern California. Also received Masters degree in Education Administration from USC. Graduate of USAF Institute of Technology.

High Priest in LDS Church and served in numerous positions including 10 years as Stake Executive Secretary and Executive Secretary to two Regional Representatives.

Avid U of U supporter of athletics. He sponsored the basketball `Iron Man' award. He loved golf, skiing, and football games. His dedication to his country was unparalleled. He will be greatly missed by all.

Survived by wife, Jenny; son, Capt. Richard Allen Baldwin, Jr. and wife Cheryl, Burlington, Vermont; daughter, Patti Baldwin Clements and husband Scott, Salt Lake City; seven grandchildren, Richard, III, Tyler, Chase, Cami, Cassi, Tysen, andTanner. Preceded in death by three brothers and one sister: Judge Ernest F., Dr. Jack, Parley, and Katherine.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 12 Noon, December 22, 1990 at Mt. Olympus North Stake Center, 4176 South Adonis Dr. (3883 E.). Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Friday 6-8 p.m. and at the church Saturday 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.T 12/21 N3 12/22
