Jay Percy Bywater, age 83, died December 20, 1990 after an extended illness.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, September 14, 1906, to John Thomas and Grace Dalton Johnson Bywater. He married Emma Emory, August 20, 1929, who preceded him in death.Jay Percy spent his entire working life in the automotive and industrial equipment field. He studied extensively electical motor repair, plant maintenance service and material handling equipment, service and repair. His interest in these fields led him to conduct time motion studies using high speed camera methods that enhanced the understanding of the repair and engineering of automotive and industrial equipment. He was an associate member and former program chairman of the Society of Automotive Engineers. In retirement he devoted his energies to growing and nuturing a beautiful and successful garden.
Jay Percy was a loyal and devoted citizen. As a self educated man, he exemplified the American who continued to be the best that he could be.
Survived by: son, John and wife Lucy Anne Richardson; three grandchildren, David, Marium and Virginia; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd A. and Gail F.
Graveside services wil be held Saturday December 22, at 11 a.m. in the Salt Lake City Cemetery under the direction of Russon Brothers Mortuary.
