Roland "Rocky" Raab, former spokesman for NASA's manned space program, will become the head of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources' information and education program in early January.

Raab, pronounced Rob, is a veteran public relations professional who has served in a variety of public relations posts - most recently as manager of internal affairs for Thiokol Corp. in Ogden.An avid outdoorsman, Raab has served as volunteer marketing director for the Ogden Nature Center and director of media relations for the Utah Wildlife Federation.

He is also a volunteer Utah Hunter Education instructor and helped design and develop the nation's first children's literacy discovery center.

A former senior instructor pilot at Columbus Air Force Base, Miss., Raab is a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force Reserve where he serves as a public affairs staff officer.
