Dwain Richard Cox, age 75, passed away peacefully December 18, 1990 in Salt Lake City.
Born November 7, 1915, in Montrose, Colorado to Thomas Harvey and Lelia Elliott Cox. He married Julia Pauline Erzek on January 12, 1941 at Durango, Colorado. In 1938, he graduated from the University of Colorado in Electrical Engineering; and received his P.E. in Utah in 1969. He worked for over 43 years at Western Colorado Power and Utah Power and Light Co., retiring in 1981. He was a Master Mason of the Olathe Lodge, No. 157, A.F.& A.M.; and was a member of the Scottish Rite and El Kalah Shrine in Salt Lake. Dwain was a member of the First Baptist Church of Salt Lake; past president of the East Mill Creek Lions' Club and of the Lions' Clubs in Utah and Colorado since 1950. Former president of the Farm Power Commission of Colorado. Dwain enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, and having his family around him in his activities. His passing will leave a great void in our lives, and those of his many friends.Survived by his wife Julia, of Salt Lake City; two daughters, Carol (husband James) Russell, Tempe, Arizona; Marlene Cox, also of Salt Lake City; daughter-in-law, Carole Hanson, Saratoga, Californa; a granddaughter, Allison Hanson; and a brother, Harvey E. (wife Jewel) Cox, Olathe, Colorado. Preceded in death by two sons, Dwain R.Cox, II and Daryl I. Cox; and a sister, Peggy Jeanne Cox.
Funeral services in Salt Lake City, will be Friday, December 21, 1990, 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, 777 South 1300 East, with the Reverend Stan Smith officiating. Friends may call at the Church for one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dwain's name to the First Baptist Church Foundation (84102) or the Shriners Children's Hospital. Services in Colorado will be Monday, December 24th, 10 a.m., at the Montrose Valley Funeral Home, 505 So. 2nd Ave., Montrose, Colorado, where friends may call for one hour prior to the services. Masonic graveside services follow at the Olathe Cemetery.
