Special activities are planned Friday at the Fremont Indian State Park in observance of the winter solstice.
Gordon Topham, park superintendent, said an education day and solstice study will be conducted. "Eye-opener" refreshments will be served at 6:15 a.m."After a short orientation program, participants will venture into the canyon to observe the interaction of sunrise on various rocks," Top-ham said. The sun will rise at 7:42 a.m.
Topham encouraged participants to bring cameras and said film will be provided by the park to record the interaction. Those attending should dress for cold weather.
The park is located near I-70 in Clear Creek Canyon, about 25 miles southwest of Richfield. Additional information may be obtained by calling the park at 527-4631.
