KALL Radio (AM-910) will host a special radio-thon Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., to benefit Salt Lake City's new "Ronald McDonald" House.

Station radio personalities Tom Barberi, Hans Petersen, Danny Kramer and Arlin Somers will share their air time that day with prominent guests, including Utah Jazz basketball coach Frank Layden, KTVX news anchor Phil Riesen, KUTV news anchor Kathy Brock and former Gov. Scott M. Matheson.Listeners will be able to contribute to the Ronald McDonald House proj-ect and will be eligible for prizes.

Some of the prizes include a night and breakfast at the Peery Hotel, Mark Eaton's basketball shoes, season tickets to University of Utah sporting events and gift certificates to the Mikado restaurant and the Sound-Off.

In conjunction with the radiothon, 25 cents of every soft drink sold at McDonald's restaurants Tuesday will go to the building project.

The 16-bedroom Mountain West Ronald McDonald House is under construction at 935 E. South Temple and will provide a home away from home for families of children being treated in area hospitals for cancer and other serious illnesses.

"KALL Radio is very excited about the prospect for helping to finish Phase I of the fund raising for Ronald McDonald House," said KALL station spokesman Jan Bagley.

"We want this radiothon to have major impact on the goals for Ronald McDonald House, and believe the generous KALL listeners will make it happen."

* KRSP (FM-103.5 and AM-1060) - Richard W. "Rich" Mathis, long-time Salt Lake radio broadcasting executive, was recently promoted to assistant general manager of the two radio stations.

Mathis came to KRSP in 1976 in the sales department. He was promoted to sales manager in 1981 and to general sales manager in 1983. He was elected president of the Salt Lake Market Radio Broadcasters Association in 1987.

"Rich has proven his loyalty through his years of service to KRSP. His knowledge will serve him well as he helps in the management of KRSP AM-FM," said Alan Hague, executive vice president and general manager of the two stations.

* KSL (AM-1160) will air the San Francisco 49ers at Denver Broncos pre-season NFL game Aug. 13 at 6:50 p.m.

* KUER (FM-90) will present the Ed Pratt Band Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. in Red Butte Gardens.

This is another in the series of outdoor summer concerts. The cost is $4 a person.
