The Utah Valley Economic Development Association has received the seal of approval from the City Council, which voted Tuesday to pay just more than $11,000 in dues to UVEDA to aid economic development in Utah County.

Mayor S. Blaine Willes said that last year money to support UVEDA was not appropriated because Orem felt that certain procedures needed to be corrected."We feel that those things have been taken care of," Willes said. It is time again for Orem to show its support for UVEDA and the cities it represents within Utah County, he said.

Kerry Romesburg, president of Utah Valley Community College and chairman of UVEDA, said the organization is complementary to the city-sponsored Council for Economic Development in Orem.
