President Bush presented to a Brigham City man a Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Award for helping to clean up and restore the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge.

Bob Ebeling, a retired Thiokol engineer, founded The Friends of the Refuge in 1989 after federal funding had not been forthcoming to repair damage from years of flooding by the Great Salt Lake.His efforts have raised more than $40,000 in donations and, coupled with thousands of volunteer hours that Ebeling organized, helped improve the refuge.
