Long-time character actress Viveca Lindfors will join the cast of "The Linguini Incident," starring Rosanna Arquette, David Bowie, Marlee Matlin, Eszter Balint and Andre Gregory.
The story, under the direction of Richard Shepard, is a romantic comedy set in New York about three friends desperate to realize their dreams.Swedish-born Lindfors recently won an Emmy as outstanding guest actress in a drama series for her role in the ABC-TV network's "Life Goes On." Her screen credits include 50 films, among them "The Wedding," "No Exit" and "The Way We Were."

- A 5-YEAR-OLD CANADIAN LAWSUIT over producer-director George Lucas' use of fictitious Ewok characters in "Return of the Jedi" has finally ended with Lucas the winner.
A Toronto judge found no substantial similarity between "Jedi" and Canadian writer Dean Preston's "Space Pets" script, even though that script also featured characters called Ewoks. Preston's lawyers say they'll appeal.
- CASTING CALLS: Robert Goulet, George Kennedy and O.J. Simpson have joined the cast of "The Naked Gun II1/2: The Smell of Fear," now filming in L.A. . . . The Statler Brothers have signed to do a weekly variety series on cable TV's Nashville Network. The show will debut next October.
