Born June 6, 1920 in Holland to Geert DeVries and Antje Tilma DeVries. Came to the USA at the age of 7. Married 59 years to Barbara Bryan, August 3, 1941 in Salt Lake city, Utah. Served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Lived in Salt Lake city for 40 years.Survived by mother (102), Anteje Tilma DeVries, Salt Lake City; wife, Barbara DeVries, Hemet, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Peta DeVries, Salt Lake City; daughters, Kim and son-in-law Dan Haradin, Lake Arrowhead, Calif; daughter Joni and son-in-law Floyd Berry, Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter Noelle and son-in-law Kirk Foster, Tehachapi, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; a brother, Harm DeVries, Santa Ana, Calif.; a sister, Reba Folkerts, Lakewood, Calif.; and sister Margrite Snyder, Salt Lake City; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Miller-Jones Mortuary Chapel in Hemet, Caalifornia on December 14, 1990. Burial followed at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside California.
