Two men who suffered electrical shock Wednesday remained in critical condition Friday morning at University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake, while the condition of a third victim was upgraded from critical to serious.
Johnny Wakamatsu, 70, Pleasant Grove and Steven Blake, 21, Provo, were still in critical condition with third-degree electrical burns suffered during an accident Wednesday afternoon in northwest Provo. Condition of David Connelly, 45, Salt Lake City, was upgraded to serious. A fourth victim was treated at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and released.Wakamatsu was injured while he and fellow worker Rusty Schweppe, 44, Orem, were installing a sign at 225 W. 2230 North. Police said the truck's boom-type ladder made contact with a 7,200-volt power line.
Wakamatsu was knocked unconscious by the electrical shock, and when Schweppe attempted to pull him away from the truck, he too was shocked.
Connelly and Blake were passers-by who were injured when they attempted to help the two men.
