One area opened and a second will on Tuesday, bringing to 10 the number of ski areas that have joined the 1990-91 ski season.

ParkWest, after 13 inches of new snow Thursday night, officially opened on Saturday. The new snow will allow Sundance to open on Tuesday.Areas already open include Park City, Deer Valley, Alta, Powder Mountain, Snowbird, Solitude, Brighton and Brian Head. Not yet open are Snowbasin, Beaver Mountain, Elk Meadows and Nordic Valley.

Surface conditions at ParkWest are powder and packed powder. Six lifts opened Saturday. A total of 22 runs opened, of which 14 are being groomed.
