Laura Egan Sloan, age 78, passed away December 13, 1990, after a long illness.
She was born December 4, 1912, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to David and Elizabeth Easton Egan. On June 16, 1934, she married Robert Charles Sloan in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died September 23, 1981. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints all of her life and served as Relief Society President and in the Primary, Sunday School, and Young Women auxiliaries and as a hostess at the Beehive House and Temple Square. She loved music and sang in many Church choirs and musical groups. She was president of the Garden Arts Club, the Sigma Chi and Alpha Chi Omega Mothers' Clubs and served on the board for the LDS Hospital Pink Ladies Association. Her love of beauty was expressed in her special talent for flower arranging, gardening, beautiful handwork, sewing, and oil painting.Survivors: a son, Robert C. Sloan, Jr., a daughter, Mrs. Peter (Betty) Ellison; sisters and brother, Edith Derrick, Mary Jane Johnson, Elaine Williams, and George R. Egan, all of Salt Lake City; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services Monday, December 17th, 12 Noon, Larkin Mortuary Chapel, 260 East South Temple, where friends may call Sunday, 5-7 pm, and Monday, one hour prior to services. Burial, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
