Verl Charles Thompson, 63, of Spanish Fork, died Tuesday, December 11, 1990 in the Mountain View Hospital in Payson.
He was born on December 10, 1927 in Park City, Utah, the son of Frank F. Thompson and Libby Louise Hamilton Thompson. He married Coleen Wilcox on April 19, 1958 in Benjamin. Their marriage was later solemnized the Provo Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.He was educated in Heber Schools. He worked in the mines in Park City. He served in the US Army during World War II. He worked for Geneva Steel for 31 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union. He was a member of the LDS Church, was a High Priest in the Spanish Fork 7th Ward, and served as High Priest secretary. He has lived in Park City, Benjamin, and in Spanish Fork for the Past 32 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodwork.
Survivors include his wife, of Spanish Fork; one son and two daughters, Eddie Verl Thompson, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Barney (Charleen) Stallings, Salem; Mrs. Ed (Cindy) Beddoes, Benjamin; nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Blaine L. Harper; and three brothers.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Spanish Fork 7th LDS Ward Chapel, 400 North 400 East, Spanish Fork. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. or Friday at the mortuary from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, with military rites by the Spanish Fork American Legion.
