Hazel Marion Hartman Bird, age 86, passed away peacefully December 12, 1990.

She was born in Manhattan, Kansas, May 26, 1904, the daughter of Bert and Sarah Saathoff Hinten. She was later adopted by Miles Hartman. Hazel married Bryan W. Bird in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 14, 1924.Her early years were spent in Kansas, Nevada, Salt Lake City and Bingham Canyon, Utah. She graduated from Bingham High School Class of 1922. The family moved to Midvale in 1938. She held offices in many civic organizations, including the American Legion Auxiliary, Bingham Civic Club and Midvale Community Club. She was a member of Utah State Women's Legislative Council. She had over 1000 hours of volunteer service at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake. She spent 13 winters with her husband in Arizona. She was a member of the Midvale 4th LDS Ward.

Survivors: husband, Bryan; daughters and sons-in-law, Marion and Art Millerberg; Gloria and Tony Ventura; Joanne and Joe Buhler; Pauline and Howd Jensen; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Miles Gadow and Thelma Robinson, both California. Preceded in death by brother, Herbert V. Hartman and grandson, Douglas P. Millerberg.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 15, 1990, 1 p.m. in the Goff Mortuary Chapel, 8090 South State, where friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens. Those desiring may make contributions to the Midvale Senior Citizens Center or the charity of their choice.
