Bicycle routes may be appearing along Provo streets before too long, as Provo looks at ways to move people around town and reduce pollution and parking problems.

City Engineer Nick Jones said the City would like to establish bike routes. The lanes will be designed as 10-foot-wide, two-way traffic lanes or narrower lanes with one-way bicycle traffic.Eliminating street parking on 700 North would provide room for a bike lane on that road, said Jones at Tuesday's City Council Meeting.

"People have to look at their driving habits," said Provo Mayor Joe Jenkins about Provo's air pollution problem.

Next year Provo may have a bicycle corridor, said Jenkins. "Bicycle's don't pollute and they don't need parking spaces."
