The Los Angeles Dodgers released 300-game winner Don Sutton, the winningest active pitcher in the major leagues and 12th on the all-time list. Sutton, 43, failed to complete any of his 16 starts this season. He was 3-6 with a 3.92 earned run average. He was on the disabled list with a sprained elbow from June 29 until Tuesday, when he was activated and started against the Cincinnati Reds. He took the loss in a 6-0 shutout, giving up seven hits and six runs in seven innings.
